Amethyst and Black Pearl Necklace

Amethyst is the birthstone for February and the gem for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.  The Delhi Purple Sapphire is actually an amethyst. 

 Pearl is the birthstone for June and the gem of the third and thirtieth anniversaries.The ancient Japanese believed that pearls were created out of the tears of mermaids, nymphs, angels and other mythical beings.

Amethyst can be safely and effectively cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush, such as a toothbrush. Ultrasonic cleaners may be used to clean amethyst but be wary in the very rare case that it has been dyed or fracture-filled.  However, Pearls are quite "soft" and range between 2.5 and 4.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. They should be protected from extreme wear.  It would be best to not subject this piece to an ultrasonic cleaner.
