Pyrite Ammonite Fossil Pendant

Fossil Pyritized Ammonite under glass dome.  Brass and black pearl embellishments.  On long leather cording. No closure.

Ammonites are the ancient equivalent to the modern-day chambered Nautilus. These fossilized Sea creatures come in a variety of forms depending on the soil in which they fossilized. This particular creature expired in an area that was loaded with Iron Pyrite, so the remains became that mineral.  Typically, this type come out of Russia.
