Blue Goldstone Twisted Dangle Earrings

Goldstone is historically known as Aventurine Glass, from the Italian word ‘avventurina’, which means ‘accidental’, derived from the root word ‘avventura’, which means ‘by chance, luck, or risk’. Interestinly, the macrocrystalline quartz known as Aventurine, was named after aventurine glass because of its resemblance to goldstone.  

It has a sketchy and unclear history, one legend has it that an unknown religious order of Italian monks accidentally spilled copper shavings into a vat of melted glass, while other legends have the same monks trying to make gold and coming up with goldstone instead. 

Goldstone is actually a man-made glass "stone".  Its sparkle is due to cobalt or manganese in blue Goldstone, and flecks of copper in gold Goldstone.
